Researchers identified a new species of tiny blue octopus named Microeledone galapagensis in the deep waters of the Galapagos Islands. The discovery was documented in a study published in the journal Zootaxa. The octopus was first observed in 2015 by scientists aboard the E/V Nautilus submersible at a depth of approximately 5,800 feet.
