Director Michael Bay has been tapped to direct a Universal Pictures film based on Mitchell Zuckoff's forthcoming 2027 book about the rescue of two U.S. airmen whose F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down over Iran in early April during Operation Epic Fury. One pilot was extracted within hours; the other evaded Iranian forces in the Zagros Mountains for nearly two days before being rescued in a night raid involving dozens of aircraft and hundreds of special operations forces. The film will mark Bay's second collaboration with Zuckoff, following 2016's 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
