A federal judge ordered the unsealing of a handwritten note purportedly left by Jeffrey Epstein in his jail cell before his first suicide attempt in July 2019. The note was discovered by his cellmate, convicted murderer Nicholas Tartaglione, tucked in a book. Epstein died by hanging in August 2019 while awaiting trial; his death was ruled a suicide by the New York Medical Examiner's Office and the Justice Department.
