Trump-backed challengers defeat majority of Indiana Republican state senators who opposed his redistricting plan
At least five of seven Indiana Republican state senators who voted against Trump's mid-decade redistricting plan in December 2024 lost their primary races to Trump-endorsed challengers on Tuesday. Conservative groups including Club for Growth and Turning Point Action spent over $8.3 million on advertising in support of the challengers. The results are expected to increase pressure on Republican lawmakers in other states regarding redistricting and signal risks for other Trump-targeted incumbents like Sen. Bill Cassidy and Rep. Thomas Massie.
