Jacksonville police officer uses prayer to talk suicidal man off bridge

On April 12, Jacksonville Police Officer Antonio Richardson spent approximately 40 minutes talking a man down from the edge of the Dames Point Bridge using prayer and emotional appeals. Body camera footage released by the Jacksonville Police Department captured Richardson, an 18-year veteran and pastor, successfully persuading the man to step away from the ledge by holding his hand, praying with him, and discussing the impact of suicide on others.
