Man arrested in connection with death of five-year-old girl in Alice Springs; violence erupts outside hospital

Jefferson Lewis, 47, was arrested in Alice Springs on Thursday in connection with the death of five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby, whose body was found 5km from a town camp where she was last seen Saturday night. Lewis was attacked by community members at a town camp; police intervened and transported him to Alice Springs hospital. Hundreds of Aboriginal people subsequently gathered outside the hospital, throwing projectiles and clashing with police, with some demanding traditional 'payback' justice.
