First Western commercial ships transit Strait of Hormuz since Iran war began
A French-owned container ship and other Western vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, marking the first such passages by Western commercial ships since the US-Israeli war with Iran began in late February. The Malta-flagged CMA CGM Kribi and other vessels successfully transited the waterway that has been effectively closed to most commercial traffic during the conflict. About a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas normally passes through the strait.
