A Jakarta anti-corruption court sentenced former Education Minister Nadiem Makarim, co-founder of Gojek, to 10 years in prison for abuse of authority related to a Chromebook procurement deal. The court found Makarim guilty of causing approximately $120-125 million in state losses through the 2020-2022 school laptop project, ordering him to pay fines and restitution. Makarim has denied wrongdoing and vowed to appeal the verdict.
