Guo Wengui, a self-exiled Chinese billionaire and Communist Party critic, was sentenced to 30 years in prison by Judge Analisa Torres in Manhattan on June 30, 2026. He was convicted of nine of 12 criminal charges related to a fraud scheme from 2018 to 2023 that prosecutors said harmed over 1,000 victims worldwide. The judge ordered him to forfeit $889 million in restitution.
