Three firefighters killed in wildfires along Colorado-Utah border

Three firefighters were killed on June 27, 2026, when they were overcome by flames while responding to wildfires near the Colorado-Utah border west of Grand Junction, Colorado. The victims were identified as Emily Barker, 38, Nick Hutcherson, 27, and Sydney Watson, 26, all members of a Helitack crew. Two other firefighters suffered burns, and the deaths occurred almost exactly 13 years after 19 firefighters died in the Yarnell Hill fire in Arizona.
