Alaska judge rules that a man with the same name as U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan can appear on the primary ballot.

Superior Court Judge Thomas Matthews overturned a June 15 decision by the Alaska Division of Elections Director that had disqualified Dan J. Sullivan from challenging incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan in the August 18 primary. The judge found the elections division's decision to exclude the challenger based on a 'good faith' criteria was not supported by the Constitution, state law, or existing regulations. The state is appealing the ruling to the Alaska Supreme Court before the ballot printing deadline.
