FTC and four states sue WPATH over transgender youth care guidelines.
The Federal Trade Commission and attorneys general from Alaska, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas filed a lawsuit against the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) on June 17, 2026. The 123-page lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

The split, in one line
Conservative outlets frame WPATH as an engine of the transgender industrial machine that profited from deception. The Times frames it as an escalation in the Trump Administration's efforts to end gender-related care. WPATH calls the suit a baseless end-around a prior court ruling.
